Sanremo 2022, men's looks took the stage

The singers competing in the 72nd Sanremo Italian Song Festival were divided between those who chose a classic look, embellished with eccentric notes, and those who dared to amaze the audience. From senators Morandi and Ranieri, who were won over by the sequins, to the winners Mahmoud and Blanco, who played with class on the ambiguity of their interpretation.

The 72nd edition of the Sanremo Festival proved to be a success with the public, capable of exceeding all expectations. A boom in ratings not seen for almost 30 years and which has brought Italy's most important singing festival back to the center of attention of even the youngest spectators. On stage, however, in addition to the songs, the looks shown off by the performers , especially the male ones, were the protagonists. The third Festival signed by Amadeus, in fact, will probably go down in history as the one in which men dared the most, giving themselves bright colours, sequins and even a long skirt . To enrich their performances inside the Ariston theatre, in fact, some of the competing competitors (as well as the host) chose traditional outfits but embellished with extroverted notes. Others, however, have definitely pushed themselves beyond the barriers of conventionality.

Classic style but with personality

The first group includes true senators of made in Italy pop music: Gianni Morandi and Massimo Ranieri . Both showed off impeccable suits with jackets in all their performances, while indulging in some quirks, such as the silver sequins on Ranieri's lapel on the final evening or Morandi's total white look shared with his friend Jovanotti on the occasion of their duet.

The masculine color of the festival , however, was undoubtedly black , chosen by almost all the competitors, especially in the final. Examples of this are the outfits of Fabrizio Moro (who gave his suit a sporty cut by eliminating the tie and slightly unbuttoning his shirt on the chest), Rkomi (who showed up wrapped in black leather, after showing off his bare torso in the evening cover) and Matteo Romano (even too classic for his 18 years). However, the other young talents present in the race attempted some variations on the theme. Sangiovanni , for example, appeared before the public in a black suit embroidered with bright, glittering and metallic diamonds like the under jackets of Dargen D'Amico and Aka7even . A further variation on the total black theme was the one proposed by Irama , whose dress was ruffled with a silver net. Decidedly more colourful, however, was the choice of Achille Lauro , who showed off a mauve suit with extremely refined lines.

Eccentricity at the service of art

Let's move, instead, to the other side of the fence, to the large group of those who, even on the final evening, did not give up on surprising. The first prize, also in this case, goes to the winners of the Festival. Mahmoud and Blanco , in fact, perfectly immersed in the theatrical atmosphere of a deliberately ambiguous interpretation, took to the stage maintaining a perfect balance between style and provocation . Mahmoud showed up with a white shirt and black tie worn over a long black skirt . Blanco , on the other hand, faithful to his stage name, opted for a total white look consisting of a transparent shirt and loose, soft trousers . The transparent solution was also chosen by Michele Bravi , who placed his song in a two-faced dress: transparencies and gold on the right, black cloak on the left . Finally, an honorable mention goes to the male component of the duo The representative of the list , who wore a stage costume rather than a dress where pink reigned supreme.
